Dawn invited Jim Matheson, executive director of the National Bison Association, to join her and co-present on the NBA’s role in the Climate Smart initiative.

Held at Tesoro Buffalo Ranch in Talco, TX, and GP Ranch (owned by Tanka Fund rancher partners Theda and Chris Pogue) in Sulphur Springs, TX, the conference also featured guest speaker Donnie Peters, manager of Northeast Texas Farmers Co., who presented on Summer/Winter Grass Management and Analysis. Dr. Hank Hayes of the Texas Animal Commission presented a veterinary debrief.

The Tanka Fund team staffed an information booth (see Tanka intern Skylar Pogue in photo below) during the event to present more information about the Climate Smart program and to talk to ranchers interested in learning about joining Tanka Fund as a rancher partner.

The conference also included hands-on bison workings, a rancher panel, and a bison market update.
