Our Rancher Partners: Dave and Patra Wise

Ranchers Dave and Patra Wise became Tanka Fund partners in 2022. Their ranch, Dancing Crane Ranch, is the oldest historical Native-owned ranch on the Fond Du Lac Reservation in Sawyer, MN. The land originally belonged to a great uncle and they purchased it to start their first Buffalo herd. The Wises received their first Buffalo in 2022 through a partnership with the Tanka Fund and The Nature Conservancy. In addition to their Buffalo herd, the Wises also produce a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) monthly food box. Focused on restorative farming and soil health, all of their products are planted and/or harvested by hand with the help of their family and community.
