Cultural harvest set for Pine Ridge Reservation community Oct. 15

Tanka Fund is co-sponsoring a cultural harvest with Makoce Agriculture Development Oct. 15 for the Pine Ridge Reservation community. Pte Kuwe/Thatháka Ktépi will be hosted by Oyáte Wóokiye and Toby Classic at the Makoce headquarters in Porcupine, SD. Tanka Fund rancher partner Edward Iron Cloud III, of Knife Chief Buffalo Nation, will be donating a Buffalo for the harvest.

The ceremony follows the traditional Lakota way of life, connecting with the land, honoring our ancestors, and living the traditions that sustain us as a Tiwahe, or family.

The meat from the harvest will support the Toby Classic Skateboard Competition, wellness events, and nourish our community, reinforcing our commitment to food sovereignty and well-being.
