We’re 5½ MILES of fencing away from returning 150 BUFFALO to their homeland

One of our Native American rancher partners has already fenced more than 40 miles around the perimeter of his pastures. He’s only miles away from completing the Buffalo fencing he needs to become a Buffalo caretaker.

Once completely fenced, his ranch can accommodate up to 150 Buffalo. We want to make sure as many Buffalo as possible return to their homeland this fall. We need to finish that miles of fence this summer.

No donation is too small!

Every dollar counts toward the $34 it costs for about 1 foot of buffalo fencing and the labor to install it.

Any donations past our goal will be used to help our other rancher partners with their infrastructure needs.

It starts with fencing

Fencing is one of the first requirements to plan for when it comes to starting a Buffalo ranch. Exterior fencing around the perimeter is considered to be the most important for the safety of the animals.

Bigger and stronger is key

Fencing around a Buffalo pasture requires at least 6-foot posts and five or six strands of barbed wire. Grown bulls can make a 6-foot jump from a standing position.

It costs more to fence for Buffalo

Depending on the requirements of the ranch and the topography of the land, the cost for Buffalo fencing can run up to four times more than fencing used for cattle.
